General Description
Location. The Brumder Mansion sits in a historic district of Milwaukee's west side, less than one mile from downtown. The city is the largest in Wisconsin and has a thriving arts community, as emphasized by the fantastic Santiago Calatrava designed Milwaukee Art Museum. Milwaukee lies along the shores and bluffs of Lake Michigan at the convergence of three rivers. Hotel Features. The early twentieth century mansion was built in the English Arts & Crafts style, with Gothic and Victorian elements. The beautifully maintained red brick exterior provides a lasting first impression. The interior is unique and graceful, with exquisite woodwork, fine antiques and huge oak fireplaces in each of the common rooms. The lower level contains a small theatre which is home to productions and master acting classes from Cornerstone Theater Company. There is a massive wooden stairway in the foyer and comfortable chairs in the parlor. The library offers books, magazines and games. The innkeepers provide breakfast each morning, with specialties including Pumpkin Gingerbread Pancakes, Rosemary Roasted Potatoes and Three Cheese Fritatta with Potato Galette. Guestrooms. The guest suites offer romantic settings with fine linens and decorative paint schemes. Every room has different amenities, some have jetted tubs or marble showers and some have fireplaces. Cable television, CD players and VCRs are offered in some rooms as well. Expert Tip. The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, better known as "The Domes", is just one mile from the mansion. The botanical gardens are housed in three seven story aluminum and glass domes, an Arid Dome, a Tropical Dome and a Show Dome with seasonal botanicals.
