GDSI Receives Environmental Innovation Award from The Wisconsin Environmental Group
(PRWEB) September 5, 2007 -- GDSI (http://www.gdsiswitches.com), a designer and manufacturer of membrane switches and flexible circuitry, received the prestigious 2007 Business Friend of the Environment award in the category of Environment Innovation from the Wisconsin Environmental Working Group.
The award was based on GDSI's innovative and propriety technology (D/SPC®) used for building high performance double sided polymer circuitry by using an environmentally friendly additive polymer ink process and eliminating the need for chemically etched copper circuitry and its associated heavy waste byproducts.
"There are significant waste streams associated with the copper circuitry process and the lamination of the copper substrates," said Mark Ester, President and CEO of GDSI. D/SPC® provides industry leading reliability and performance while providing economic and environmental benefits of lower material and manufacturing costs."
The winners of these awards were chosen from a competitive field of 41 candidates nominated by their peers. An independent panel of judges including an environmental regulator and representatives from industry, environmental groups and the University of Wisconsin System selected the winners
"These awards honor companies that have made a serious commitment to reduce pollution, and minimize waste," said Scott Manley, director of the Wisconsin Environmental Working GroupÒ, the affiliate of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce which sponsors the annual awards.
The winners were honored at the 18th Annual Environmental Policy and Awards conference at the Country Springs Conference Center in Waukesha on July 20th, 2007.
